Event Details
Located on Beqa Island, the outer maritime school has a vibrant population of 80 students, aged 4 to 14. This mission draws on recent tragedy, a drive to better engage with the local environment, and the education of our children. In February, the village suffered a loss in the form of one of our youngest. 4 year-old student had been swimming and, sadly, drowned. The loss is raw within the village, but the desire to act for the better upon this tragedy is strong. In speaking with his family and teachers, we have agreed that a safe, secure, outdoor play area is just what the community needs. His kindergarten teacher poignantly shared, “The children need other things or play areas apart from the sea to develop their physical and environmental well-being”.
